Drive back toward downtown. Vínbúðin (state liquor monopoly — the only place wine is sold) opens around 11am weekdays. Grab an unoaked chardonnay for evening cocktail hours at the hotels. Pair with a stop at Krónan, Hallveigarstígur for cheese, crackers, and snacks — regular supermarkets only sell low-alcohol beer, not wine, so both stops are needed. Do this before parking for the day, not after.

Take the fjord road (Route 47), not the tunnel — that's what makes Hvammsvík fall right on the way. Glymur ruled out — no roadside view exists (it's hidden in a valley, hike-only), so no detour there.

~45 min from Sand Hotel, right on Route 47. Eight natural pools built into the Atlantic shoreline — at high tide, cold seawater mixes into the geothermal pools, shifting the temperature as you soak. Seals common, whales occasionally pass through. Wilder/more unique feel than Krauma. Earliest booking slot is 10:30 AM — booked accordingly, and the better tide timing too (later slots drift further from the 8:17am high tide). Sept 30 high tide is 8:17 AM, so you'll be ~2h15m past peak — mixing effect still present but tapering toward the 2:33pm low. Bring your own swimsuit; towel included with admission. Wading shoes recommended (rentable) if going into the ocean itself. Temp range 41°F cold plunge to 108°F hot pools. Price: confirmed by email with Hvammsvík — they do use dynamic pricing based on day/time (not web traffic/browsing), so the jump from $60 to $86/person was expected behavior, not a glitch. Budget for $86/person.

Historic Snorri Sturluson site — flat, easy paths connecting Snorralaug (centuries-old stone geothermal pool), the church, and Snorrastofa cultural center. Not a formally documented "trail" so much as a short connected loop — allow ~30-35 min to walk it properly rather than just glance at the pool.
